No rentals if any of the following conditions exist:*

  • Water flow greater than 500cfs
  • Muddy water
  • Poor weather conditions
  • Daytime ambient temperature less than 70⁰F

*We've seen it all on Terrapin Creek over the years and our customer's safety is top-priority here at Terrapin Outdoor Center. We hope you understand and can appreciate our safety guidelines.

No pets. We love our fur babies too but we most often see where pets would probably have been better off left at home.

No small children (paddler must be able to control his/her own rental kayak).*


*When making reservations, please inform us of any small children in your group that plan on going in a solo rental kayak. Often, 8, 9, and 10 year old children are capable, but please just let us know your particular circumstances when making your reservation. Thank you!


Paddle, life jacket and shuttle transportation included with each rental kayak.

THE TRIPS

We offer the best trips on Terrapin Creek! (3) different trips available. Upper 8 mile, lower 4 mile, and lower 8 mile. The specific trip we are running on any given day is based on water conditions among other factors and is at our sole discretion.


OUR SEASON

Our usual projected Rental/Shuttle Season is May through the Sunday before Labor Day. Length of Rental/Shuttle Season may vary (shorter or longer) according to weather & water conditions. If in question, please call (256) 447-8383 to confirm.


PLEASE ...

Make sure that you are physically fit enough to handle the demands of a kayak trip. Always wear your life jacket! Take care of our rental boats & gear as if they were your own. Be responsible and respectful of others when floating the creek. Respect private property along the creek. Use common sense and obey the law. No small children (paddler must be able to control his/her own rental kayak). No pets, littering, alcohol, illegal drugs, glass containers, foul language, etc. All rental boats must be out of the water by 5pm. All vehicles need to be off property by 5pm. Store closes and gates lock at 5pm. We're a family run business and strive to provide a family-friendly atmosphere for everyone. Thank you!
